For our older students who are interested in a career in teaching dance, we offer a training program that follows the I.S.T.D. professional teaching syllabus. This program provides our apprentices practical teaching experience through shadowing teachers in their various classes. It also focuses on the academic side of teaching dance including Kinesiology, Teaching Technique and Safe Dance Practice. The 6-month program culminates in a professional I.S.T.D. exam. In the past we have trained multiple Island Dance students who earned their Student Teacher degrees. We have also trained many teachers to become full time and have earned their Associate degrees.
